Ogden, Broocks, & Hall has long had one of the most prominent media law practices in the State of Texas, shaping the law on issues affecting First Amendment rights, libel, privacy, and open government and open records. The Firm's extensive experience in this area has resulted from decades of handling media and communications-related litigation, representing local and regional broadcasters, newspapers, and news organizations, as well as national television networks, news organizations, publishers, authors, individual journalists, bloggers, production companies, and syndicators. The Firm offers the following services:

  • Counseling clients regarding pre-publication review of news articles, broadcasts and advertisements
  • Responding to and defending subpoenas, including protection of confidential sources, notes and outtakes
  • Defending all classes of libel, slander, obscenity, invasion of privacy and intentional infliction of emotional distress cases
  • Pursuing access to government records, information, and open meetings and open courts under both state and federal statutes and common law
  • Defense or prosecution of trademark and copyright cases and matters.

In addition to the forgoing matters, the Firm's representation of media clients transitions into other practice areas of the Firm, including counseling and representation of media clients in transactional, employment, entertainment, intellectual property, advertising and other related matters.
